Good Scary Fun
Continuing my Halloween viewing, the latest was Tales of Terror from 1962. It claims to dramatize three Edgar Allan Poe stories but actually does four: "The Cask of Amontillado" is combined with "The Black Cat." I had read "The Cask of Amontillado" and "The Black Cat" but not the other two so read them after viewing the movie. Of the four, "Morella," the first tale, bears the least resemblance to the original story. "The Cask of Amontillado," "The Black Cat," and "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" are recognizable though greatly altered from the stories; at least, the differences are as great as the similarities. Vincent Price appears in all three segments. This movie is a good scary watch and overall a lot of fun.
