Homage to Il Sorpasso

Back in 2005 I "relinquished" editorship of my blog Bilegrip to an alter ego, Theodore G. Willikers, primarily for the purpose of beginning a comical series of my "adventures" in Europe. It was an attempt to write about something besides the soul-destroying political scene in Australia.

Most, but not all, of the six entries were fabricated tales. One, Harold in Italy (http://tinyurl.com/3q5hft2), was my impression (with embellishments) of Il Sorpasso. In it, I become the character Roberto, noting frequently that I appear to be in a time warp.

Fans of this wonderful film may enjoy what amounts to a homage to the beautiful Catherine Spaak, and my favorite actor, Vittorio Gassman.

Loved Gassmans character in this one, what a smart ass, huh? Anyway, it inspired me to find his other film ventures and really got a kick from watching "March on Rome." He was a very clever and versatile man.
