I really want to see this movie, as well as most of the other films he directed. Is there any plan to ever get any of them on Dvd, aside from the criterion releases of Tokyo Story, Goodmorning, and Floating Weeds? It's a shame so many of these (at least seemingly interesting) movies are not available to watch.

Is there any plan to ever get any of them on Dvd...I bought ($16.95) an excellent DVD transfer on eBay: sellers name fullhousedvd . He has got others too from the "100th Anniversary Collection". Check it out.
It seems that over a year ago Criterion promised us more Ozu soon. I'm still waiting, but my hope is diminishing...

Now Criterion needs to get their act together and release more than one of these a year. Perhaps some sort of boxset...
get a multiregion dvd player from amazon, and then go to yesasia and get the region 2,3,and 4 dvds from england, hong kong, and australia...the quality is good enough, considering that this will likely be the only way that you will get to see them in the next 10 years.
shareYeah, it's interesting that the DVD region system seems, in practice, to have constrained the viewing choices of Americans more than many. I'm not sure that a single Criterion-like company would be able to command such reverence elsewhere, where multizone players are pretty much standard. Of course they've developed a reputation for good transfers, etc, but the "Please Criterion, rescue Film X from oblivion"-type pleas that one frequently reads on these boards are often surprising to readers outside zone 1.
