Comparisons to 'Dead Calm'?

Anybody else notice the similarities between 'Knife in the Water' and 'Dead Calm' with Nicole Kidman, Sam Neill and Billy Zane? Similarities include a husband and wife sailing alone, arguing, allowing a dark, malevolent, yet handsome stranger on board who ends up trying to seduce the wife and putting the couple in danger. It seems to me, the makers of 'Dead Calm' stole the plot from Roman Polanski and then just added more gore.

Dead Calm is based on a 1963 U.S. novel, 1 year after Knife in the Water came out.

The end of this movie is also really similar to the Adrian Lyne film Unfaithful.
