Why the limited U.S. availability?

This film seems to have all but disappeared in the U.S. - I can just barely recall one or two TV broadcasts back in the 1960s, but I can't remember the last time a telecast was even rumored. I don't think it ever had an "official" VHS release (though I once chanced upon - and didn't buy - a VHS cassette that seemed to be from one off those off-label distributors) and it hasn't been made available on DVD in region 1, either. Is this one that slipped through the cracks somewhere? It has a good reputation, certainly better than much of what's so readily available, so I can only assume there's a rights-and-permissions problem rather than complete disinterest.

Anyone have a clue?

I've just watched the 1944 "Inner Sanctum" version, titled WEIRD WOMAN, again, and it's whetted my appetite for the remake.

How are there so few postings here? This film is brilliant!

I've just re-read CONJURE WIFE, the Fritz Leiber novel it was based on, and that, too, has whetted my appetite for this film.

Reminds me greatly of "Curse of the Melted Butt Plug" by Ramos Farnes.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

Get a copy at SinisterCinema.com - it's a DVD-R, but the print quality is fantastic!

Great on Laserdisc
