altenate versions

I recall seeing that alternate version mentioned here in the main details;
it was shown more than 25 yrs. ago on prime time TV but I have never seen it
since nor to my knowledge has it been shown since on broadcast or cable TV. AT
the end as I recall, there were a few minutes in which the story jumps back to years later when the now aged Brown concludes his narrative of the mutiny say-
ing all the mutineers were now dead and only he remained; after which he is allowed to go free and live out the remainder of his life on that island as rhe ship that found the island where the mutineers had taken refuge departs, ending the film. I would like to see that version again as it ties together some loose threads left untied otherwise. Perhaps the DVD will have this. I should like to see it again if possible, and I have often wondered why this
footage was never shown again even on cable TV - especially on TCM - as it
only adds about another 8 or 9 minutes to the running time. Hopefully it will be shown again.

Thank God! I thought I imagined that I had seen what you describe. It's bugged me all of these years when I see the opening and closing scenes on TV. I felt the same way about Lawrence of Arabia. The televised versions didn't really make much sense and I knew there were scenes missing and felt quite vindicated when the film was restored some years ago. Thanks again.
