"Mutiny" Costume Test Photos in "Listen to Me Marlon"
Just came back from seeing the recent Listen to Me Marlon, which features Brando speaking about his life and himself -- very self-pitying on what happened on this film, in particular.
Anyhow, what made me sit up in my chair was when they showed about four different costume test photos for THIS film -- and they really showed how bad Brando had gotten during shooting, because while we see a very rotund Brando in the film, in the costume test photos -- done some time earlier -- he was REALLY slender. So much so that at least one of the photos features him with his shirt off, revealed he actually had some chiseled ABS for the first time since the mid-'50s. I couldn't believe it.
So, yes, now I can believe Jonathan Rosenbaum's stories about Brando blowing the seams off his costumes and having to have them elasticized on this film at at least one other (One-Eyed Jacks), because I've seen with my own eyes just how slender he was at the start of production compared to what ended up on screen!
