All 3 versions in the last couple of months

Saw all three recently on different days in the past couple of months. I still prefer the 1962 version for the cinematography, locations, and more authentic portrayal of Tahitian dance, music, dwellings, etc.

I prefer the 1935 version but all three are very enjoyable.

Mel Gibson's version weas better.

I liked the Clark Gable version, loved the Marlon Brando version, but I didn't like the Mel Gibson version at all.

I agree, but "The Bounty" (1980) runs a close second and is the most historically accurate version.

It's my favorite version for many of the same reasons, and I really loved the performances. The cinematography is gorgeous. Lens by Robert Surtees (Oscar winner for Ben Hur 1959) and nominated for The Graduate, The Sting and Last Picture Show. Really interesting filmography and range in his work.

My rank: '62 version, '35 version (closely behind), '84 version

I like all three but 1935 is my favourite. The ‘62 movie is splendid while at sea but, for me, the Tahiti scenes drag on a little too long. I did enjoy Trevor Howard’s dancing scene, though!
