Doris Ziffle lives!

Amazing how actress Barbara Pepper keeps showing up in musical films from the early 1960s. She was in "My Fair Lady" and here in MM.

She had alot of problems, and she was an alcoholic. But apparently the Hollywood community stood by her, hiring her whenever possible, even turning her bloated, haggard look into a character asset for "Green Acres" character Doris.

Wish I had known her.

Barbara Pepper was a familiar figure to I Love Lucy viewers. She and Lucille Ball had been "Goldwyn Girls" at the beginning of their careers, and they remained friends for the rest of their lives.

Here's one of Pepper's appearances in I Love Lucy; the episode is called "Breaking The Lease." She's got a line in this sequence, and also dances to "El Cumbanchero" - watch her "get down" (she's just to the right of Lucy) as the clip begins -
