I never get tired of this movie

Every time I watch, I enjoy it as much as the first time I saw it. There's just something timeless about it.

Not to mention that "Trouble" is probably one of the most difficult musical numbers, and I just love watching Robert Preston pull it off.

''The Music Man'' and ''Mary Poppins'' were two of the shortest ''long '' movies I saw as a child. I didn't want them to end-and, in fact, they never did. I enjoy both to this day.

It's on my "can't not watch" list whenever it pops up on TCM. Of course, it popped up Saturday.

I've seen so many times, I usually watch until the Lyda Rose/Sweet and Low then go back to my chores.

Yes, I miss a couple good songs, but the later songs have too much story in between..

I agree. I even like it more than "Singin in the Rain" (though that one is close) I only buy dvds of films I love and I hunted around for a reasonable copy of this movie.
Preston is such a dynamic performer, it's hard to take one's eyes from him. I do think that Shirley Jones holds her own in her scenes with him.
I must say I adore Heromine Gingold as Mrs. Shinn. She's a great scene stealer.

I agree. I love the part where she meets Mayor Shinn on the porch where he exclaims about not having a son, and she says something like "I think I'd know if I gave you a son!"

Me neither, because I'll always remember how I found out about that movie; my dad told me about it when I was 10 years old. He died on June 9, 2014 of lung cancer. He was 83 years old.

My condolences for the loss of your father. This movie is special to me because of my late father as well. He owned and operated a couple of restaurants and had zero social life because he was always either working or trying to catch up on some sleep. But one Sunday night, he took our family to the local drive-in to see this movie. It was the only non-tv movie he ever attended my entire life.

I agree with everyone here. I just watched it again and i'm always amazed at how great this film is. My father introduced it to me as well on TV. Ironically, he also died of lung cancer in 1982.
