They must not have gotten the kind of press that the Lizzy Borden axe murders received, and something that "sensational" would be national news, one would think...

Didn't know about that, but the opening of My Fair Lady takes place in March 1912: 1 month before the sinking of the Titanic. I always wondered what would have happened had Alfred Doolittle's American patron tried to bring him across the Atlantic and booked him on the Titanic.

Iowa was undoubtedly buzzing about the Presidential Race of 1912. Running for the White House were William Howard Taft (Republican incumbent - 3rd place), Teddy Roosevelt (Progressive "Bull Moose" Party - 2nd place) and Woodrow Wilson (Democratic Party - winner).

And of course, only the men could vote; the women would have to wait another 8 years before they could cast ballots. I'm sure Marian wasn't pleased they had to wait so long.
