Who are they laughing at on the moniter?
Is it a real politician?
shareI was just wondering the same thing. It has to be. Does any one know/remember?
-m-
Harold Wilson, I think.
shareWrong- I grew up watching HW on the TV & it aint him.
shareDefinitely not Harold Wilson (it was made before he was PM or Labour leader anyway).
It was a fictional Tory politician played by Robert Percival on the TV. It would actually have been a bit risque to have shown them mocking a real politician (e.g. Harold Macmillan) like that in 1962.
I thought this scene had dated pretty badly. The novelty of turning the volume down on TVs has rather worn off these days.
Were they singing "Roller Roy" and was that a real type of clothing (or something)? Thank you.
