Best Kubrick film?
I mean, I think it's a toss up.
shareI enjoy 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Barry Lyndon, and Dr. Strangelove.
shareI wouldn't say it's Kubrick's best, but I do think it is severely underrated. For a movie that had to endure as much censorship and restrictions as this, it's amazing how well Kubrick was still able to convey the dark, morally grey themes of the book. It may be a watered down version of the story by necessity but in a way, the movie didn't even need to show the sex, as all the tension and implications were made palpable enough for it to not need to be made overtly explicit. Not Kubrick's best film overall, but his best B&W film, I think.
shareIt’s a masterpiece but not his best. Yet at the same time it seems to be his most underrated film since it tends to get overlooked compared to his later films in conversations and analyses.
