A great ad-lib

Sellers ad-libbing was very annoying, But I believe Mason had a great one. The scene where he yells at Lolita to stop popping her gum, apperars to be ad-libbed as Sue Lyons about jumped out of her skin in reaction. Then she almost cracks up before composing herself.

I caught that one too, that was a great ad-lib, you could tell that gum-popping was irritating Mason (or in this case, Humbert Humbert.) A very funny scene indeed.

"Billy, for Chrissakes, you must be committed."

I think Sellers improvs were supposed to be annoying. They annoyed the person they were supposed to annoy.

I liked the gum-popping too.

But as far as Sellers goes, I like when he told Humbert that he was the most normal looking man he's ever seen.
