Sue Lyon really held her own.

Sue Lyon really held her own amongst a cast of stellar, movie legends in this movie. It's hard to believe she was only 14 or 15 in this. She brought a powerful - and at times - comedic presence to the screen. I read that she won a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer (Female) in 1963 and it was well-deserved at that.

The girl looked and (sorta) acted her age, but she certainly more than held her own in the film. She even stole a few scenes, I think.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

I agree. I'm watching the film right now and she's very good. Really nailed the part, both evoking Humbert's fantasy and hinting at the less-glamorous reality.

Agreed, I thought she was fantastic. I was very impressed with her composure in her scenes with these GREATS of cinema--James Mason and Shelley Winters? Very impressive. She was a terrific foil--comic and otherwise--to Mason's pretentious, sentimental Humbert.

reply

Yeah, she did a great job.
