I was just wondering if the 1962 version was available for purchase on any medium (VHS or DVD), because since seeing the musical, I've been hoping to get my hands on a copy of the movie.

I found this movie available for purchase through movielead.com Call them on their toll free number and you can order it. It's never been released for home viewing, but this company seems to have access to the movie archives. They will produce it as a special order on VHS or DVD. (I haven't bought it myself yet, just tracked it down myself and trying to see if it's worth $49.95 for the DVD - have yet to check with the rest of the family).
