Top ten "biography" films of all-time

My list:

1. Lawrence of Arabia
2. All the President's Men
3. Raging Bull
4. Schindler's List
5. The Social Network
6. 12 Years a Slave
7. Goodfellas
8. Spotlight
9. Amadeus
10. The King's Speech

How about you?

reply

Except that Lawrence's family did not recognise their brother in the movie.
It was a highly fictionalised account.

Peter O'Toole lived up to his name though.
He was a right tool when he wanted to be.

reply

I would not call Lawrence of Arabia a biography film since so many liberties are taken (not that they are not taken in nearly all biography films, but Lawrence of Arabia is too inaccurate to be considered a biography).
That does not take away from the amazing film it was, it is still one of the greatest movies ever made. Any list of greatest films of all time in which this in not in the top 10 isn't worth that paper it's printed on.

As a 29 year old who has recently started giving older films a chance, Lawrence of Arabia has become my favorite movie of all time.

reply

It was a highly fictionalised account.

As every film "BASED" on reality. But it did contain the main points adn didnt add too much, unlike alot of films 'based" on reality

You don't have Patton on your list, but include The King's Speech? Unbelievable.
