Kid Galahad one of the best Elvis films

I liked KID GALAHAD and more than just sentimental reasons. "Kid Galahad" had all the nice people in it that were truly likable.

One of the reasons I found Kid Galahad such a quality movie was that the director had Walter Gulick (Elvis) and Joie (Michael Dante) become friends instead of enemies. In maybe a similar movie, the Joie character would have become a sworn enemy of Walter after getting knocked out and then tried to sabotage him. Instead, Joie shows emotional and moral maturity by giving respect to a fellow boxing gladiator, Walter (Elvis). That was one of my sentimental memories of the movie.

Joan Blackburn was truly beautiful in the movie. There was just something awfully sexy and compelling about her blue eyes. You don't come across a brunette with blue eyes too often in the movies. She looked a little older than Elvis being she was supposed to be 21 years old but in real life she was 24 years old at the time, not that much difference.

The critics weren't particularly fond of the Elvis movies. In Elvis' last few movies they could be right. But KID GALAHAD took place during a time when Elvis movies were at the top their game.

I agree with you. In my book, a close 2nd to Blue Hawaii (because of the beautiful cinematography and Angela Landsbury). This movie had excellent songs, beautiful mountain scenes, and was very romantic. The scenes where Elvis sings to Joan Blackman are just tops.

I agree, but it's Joan Blackman, not Blackburn.

I think so, along with "Blue Hawaii," "Roustabout," "Viva Las Vegas," "Easy Come, Easy Go" and "Live a Little, Love a Little."
