Work of art.
The fact that there were, compared to most "samurai" films, little action sequences makes this a work of art. I was on edge listening to and watching the story unfold. In fact, I do not believe there needed to be a big battle scene at the end. That is how great the writing, acting and directing are in this film. I have NEVER felt that way - I always look forward to a great sword fight but during this film I just wanted to hear more of Tsugomo's life story. Brillant!
