How I was hoping it would end (spoilers)

I loved that the main character went out fighting before committing harakiri and it was a fitting end for him. However the clan leader went and sat in another room while the fight went on, and then after the main character died he made it so nobody knew about it and nothing would be different. What a *beep* revenge.

Then there was a montage of the samurai cleaning up after the fight. They picked up his dagger from the harakiri board and then the suit of armor that he threw down before killing himself. I really thought that one of the samurai there listened to his message and decided to kill the clan leader. I pictured him alone in that room and then seeing the silhouette of the armor on those paper doors which would pull back and the armor guy would go in and stab him like some samurai super hero. If it did go where I thought it was going, it would've have been my favourite japanese film. But it didn't, so it was just kind of cool.

The ending was perfect; and realistic. Fight the establishment and get *beep* and swept under the rug. *beep* society.

This fake "justice served" ending would have ruined it.

That would go against the individual's instinct of self-preservation. The need to survive was what brought Motome to the fort to perform sepukku.
