Vin Scully broadcasting in San Francisco???

What is Vin Scully doing broadcasting in San Francisco? It would seem that since Drysdale's figure was featured in the film, I suppose he insisted that Scully's broadcast be used in the film as well. Shows Los Angeles / Hollywood influence, as Scully was the Dodger broadcaster to fans in Los Angeles. Russ Hodges & Lon Simmons were co-broadcasters of Giant games in the San Francisco area. I would bet that San Francisco Giant fans were incensed at this absurdity. At least the Giants won & Drysdale lost the game in the film and the Giants went on to win the pennant that year, 5 months after the film's 1962 release.

In spite of all this, this film is one of Lee Remick's finest.

Sure Vin would broadcast, for Los Angeles radio stations. He would still be the announcer of record for away games.

They were using the TV cameras to look through the crowd. The Dodgers would have been the source provider, so Scully would have been on the air (unless it was Jerry Doggett's turn...)

Correct! I grew up listening to Vin Scully, the greatest sports broadcaster of all time, who can make a baseball fan of the most diehard naysayer. What a treat it was to see the Dodgers on TV back then: it only happened when they were in SFO playing the Giants. Vin is one of the few announcers who do play-by-play differently for TV as opposed to radio. If it's something we can see for ourselves, he uses fewer words--or (wonder of wonders!) he doesn't say anything.
