because Frances McCann's character seems very happy. Also, unlike men, the humanoids take a genuine interest in the small talk that human females excel at.

The humanoids are actually quite creepy. If I were one of the surviving human males(already discussed human females' adoration for the clickers), I would not trust them either. Will the robots we are creating takeover in a similar way? Will they also conclude that human beings are evil and must be completely eradicated? Interesting movie even though it drags at times. Cheap but memorable sets. The doctor really looks mad with his raised hair. This movie also has the distinction of having in the cast the animated Dudley Manlove of Plan Nine From Outer Space fame. IN COTH, he plays one of the stiff humanoids. Not much of a stretch for him! Worthwhile and at times hilarious!

Nah, I doubt they're any good at sex. I'd be surprised if they were even equipped with genitals. Not only that, but they're pretty remote for the most part. And they're not very good at sensitivity and nuance, which is required for proper human seduction. That's a purely human asset, lol.

The movie's concept of humans in "rapport" with robots seemed to consist of a lot of hand-holding and gazing into each other's eyes -- not exactly red-hot passion. But this was 1962. It was left to the audience's imagination to decide if this rapport thing included physical sex. Fast forward ten years to Westworld and its sequel Futureworld. Now, sex with robots is definitely "out of the closet," as it were. In fact, some of the major attractions of the Delos resort are robot hookers and robot gigolos!

All the universe . . . or nothingness. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Which shall it be?

The movie's concept of humans in "rapport" with robots seemed to consist of a lot of hand-holding and gazing into each other's eyes -- not exactly red-hot passion.

There was a scene where Pax and Esme are holding hands and sitting close, facing each other, and they lean in for a kiss right after he says he loves her... and the scene cuts to Maxine and Cragis kissing. I think it's pretty clear that the humanoids are capable of sex, they just didn't show it (even a kiss) because the movie studio probably thought audiences would be uncomfortable with even the most slightly sexual scene between a robot and a human, even when that robot is played by a human. Just because the robots aren't capable of reproduction (yet) doesn't mean they don't have functioning genitalia.

They had to be considering how ugly Pax was. Maybe he just had fast fingers and "the right touch". Plus, he actually would listen to all that female blather.

The best word to describe the rapport is bizarre, not that there is anything wrong with that!

The robots had to be capable of having sex at least at some level -- level of robot, I mean. Remember that R-70s are the top 'bot, and Maxine and Craigis learn that they're R-96s, capable of everything but actually having children. Dr. Raven had in the meantime perfected a way of raising them to R-100s, capable of procreating, and at the end of the movie he's planning on performing the necessary operations on them.

As to Craigis's sister Esme, her robot Pax is a lower-level "clicker". I don't think he's even an R-70, but something lower. (R-49?) Could he have had physical sex? We don't know. But his rapport included sending what I guess you'd call subliminal messages to Esme every time she sleeps, so that she grows more devoted to the robots' cause. (The lead robot explains this.) So obviously "rapport" involved either something other than actual sex, or something additional to it. But unless they were R-100s they couldn't have little 'bots clicking around.
