La tentazioni del dottor Antonio by Fellini.

reply

For me it was Il lavoro. A little masterpiece by Visconti.

"Le tentazioni del dottor Antonio", Fellini was a genious!

If you happen to have a little time, could you possibly give me a very breif synopsis of the stories?

reply

I'm torn between the Temptation of the doctor and the Raffle. The Raffle reminds me of Fellini's work in the early 50's even though it wasn't his film.
Oh, Sophia! What a BABE!

reply

Definitely the Fellini!! It is quite a treat and is the only segment that stands the test of time IMHO.

The rest seem dated and were definitely created for a particular time, place, and audience. I am a fan of De Sica, but I found his entry to be a real let-down... I was particularly disappointed in the comic misfires as well as the scene with Sophia Loren being slapped around by her boyfriend, which plays as abusive and jarringly out of place in a light comedy.

The Visconti and Monicelli are all right but not my cup of tea.

I could (and likely will) watch the Fellini many more times, however. Great stuff!

reply

Agreed, Fellini's, but what beauty to be seen in all four films.

reply

I thought Monicelli's 1st part was best.
The nearly Impossible path to privacy... and with that thought the attachment to eros.

Renzo and Luciana hands down!
