No more curmudgeons?


At the end of the film, Bob Munson says that he hopes that the Senate always has at least one curmudgeon.

Alas, it doesn't have one now. The last one was probably Senator Robert C. Byrd. He could certainly be colorful. He usually annoyed the stuff out of me, so that definitely qualifies him as a curmudgeon.

It's hard to define. Maybe age also has something to do with it -- can you be a 34-year-old curmudgeon?

For today, would maybe John McCain or Chuck Grassley qualify? Neither a favorite of mine, but they have the requisite crabby demeanor and do stick to principle, more or less.
