Big Changes In Season #5

Watching episode #1 of season #5 today on The Encore Western Ch.,"Legacy Of Hate" and was surprised at all the cast additions - new Shilo owner, Charles Bickford, and his grandson and granddaughter, played by Don Quine and Sara Lane. Looks like they all hang around for quite a spell on the series according to thier credits here on IMDB. Charles Bickford manages 37 episodes until he dies <in real life> a mere month after his 37th episode, Don Quine for 55 episodes, and Sara Lane for a whopping 105 episodes.

LOVED Don Quine! He had real chemistry with James Drury and Doug McClure. I don't know why he left the show. He was a fine actor.

"Can I ask a dumb question?"
"Better than anyone I know!"

Me too. I really liked Don and wished he had been more a part of the show.

Yeah, I loved Don Quine, too. Literally -- had a major crush on him! Heard he left acting and started up the International Karate (maybe Kick Boxing?) Federation or something like that. Married Judith Michaels who wrote novels I remember reading in the 80s. Such a pleasure to be able to see these episodes again. I still crush on Stacy!

Yeah the additions to Season 5 were very good. I really liked Quine and Bickford. Bickford died in real life after a year on the show. Quine stayed for a few seasons. I think like most that left, he was not getting enough screen time. It would be tough to please everyone on the show. The show usually centered around one character. Virginian and Trampass were the stars and that hurt the others screen time. I still believe the producers tried their best to give everyone screen time.
