I remember seeing an episode a long time ago but can't remember which one it is.
Some bad men somehow take over the ranch and the Virginian comes home unexpectedly and is shot. The Graingers try to put some kind of medicine in the bad guys drinks to knock them out. That's all I remember :)

Yes, it is The Intruders. It is my favorite episode.
