I recall tuning in to watch The Tonight Show in the 70's (I think) and it was announced that the show was cancelled and a repeat was showed instead. I believe it was the only time the show was cancelled. I later heard that there was a problem with John Davindson, he threw a tantrum and walk off or something to that effect, can't recall if he was hosting or was a guest.
Anybody know the story?
That rings a muffled bell. I dimly recall Johnny Carson explaining that they'd tried but failed to tape a show the previous night because of some problem with the audio system. He then showed a clip from that aborted episode in which he's pretending to kick, or is actually kicking, a large studio speaker. And if memory serves, John Davidson was one of the guests (although I don't think he was seen in the clip), and he reportedly wasn't happy with the way things went.
