Obscure (?) question about 1/1/1982 show with Eddie Murphy

Thanks to Antenna TV for its rebroadcasts of the Tonight Show. I watched the first installment last night, and when Eddie Murphy finished his stand-up set,
the band played a short piece of music as he walked over to Carson, shook his hand, and sat in the interview chair. The music sounded very familiar--like Pharrell Williams' "Happy" of recent years. Can someone identify the origin of the short bit of music played on the show?

Definitely wasn't the "Happy" song by Pharell Williams, but it probably was just some arrangement by Doc and the NBC orchestra, but it did have a little bit of that in it. But like the other person said the band usually play a rendition of a movie or show that the guest stars in. For example when Bill Cosby was a guest host around 1986 the band played a very funky version of his theme song as he came out.

This was Eddie's first appearance on The Tonight Show, he was already on Saturday Night Live, had been since 1980. Johnny mentioned him being on SNL early in the show and Eddie mentioned it himself when he talked about playing Buckwheat on SNL. 48 Hrs wasn't released for another 11 months after this episode aired on New Year's Day, 1982. Filming on 48 Hrs didn't even begin for 4 months after this Tonight Show appearance.
