Buried memory

I've long had the memory of an episode of the Tonight Show where a female guest told Johnny that one of her first memories was of someone asking her what she wanted to be when she grew up, and she answered, "A clown."

Well, last night I happened to be watching Carson on Antenna TV, and the episode was from February, 1987. The first guest was Shelly Long. During the interview she told Johnny the story above -- meaning this is the episode/guest I've remembered all these years (funny the dumb stuff that gets buried in your brain). I'm figuring I must've watched the summer '87 (or whenever) rerun, as the original February airing would've been a school night, and I was only 12 years old in February 1987.

I tried to convey to my wife how crazy this was, but she basically just shrugged and told me to turn it to Nick at Nite so she could watch the same episode of Friends for the hundredth time.
