Were YOU in Johnny's studio audience?

I'd enjoy hearing from some folks that actually attended a taping of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Was the long wait in line really that unbearable? Did Doc and the orchestra come out first and play some tunes? Was Fred de Cordova on the sideline, communicating with Johnny during the commercial breaks? What happened immediately after the taping?

Any firsthand insight would be greatly appreciated!

I wish. I was at NBC Studios in Burbank with my family when I was 13 but you had to be at least 16 to get in to the Tonight Show. We saw Wheel of Fortune with Chuck Woolery instead.
