The vast majority of edits on IMDb are submitted by users. I would imagine that most film credits are submitted by someone in the production (an actor's agency, or a PA or some intern at a studio). I'd gather that most are just regular users, unaffiliated with the film or tv show that appears.
Adding episodes is pretty easy. If anyone has the date the episode aired, and (hopefully) all the guest who appeared on the episode (as well as making sure to include Johnny and Ed and Doc and any of the other band that may have appeared in addition to the cast), I would implore you to go ahead and add the episode to the site!
I've added probably 5 or 6 brand new shows to IMDb (including all their episodes) in just the last 12 months - many of them had already been on the air for weeks. Most of them still don't have a complete credits added, I just don't have that kind of free time. There's a show that ran for over 30 years that has over 1500 episodes that barely breaks 175 right now on IMDb. I think I've added all but 10-15 of them to the site. I'd have more done if I could, but I just don't have that kind of free time.
No, not the mind probe!
