its always made me laugh that templars car registration pretty much reads as STI (Sexually transmitted infection)a warning to the ladies perhaps?

Strange choice of car, a swedish Volvo P1800....

Fortunately solved in "Return of The Saint", a british Jaguar XJS was used by Ian Ogilvy.

The producers originally chose the Jaguar E type for Simon Templar to drive but Jaguar was unable to provide a car on a short notice. Roger Moore himself came up with the idea to use a Volvo P1800.
