Boomarang 'censored' episode

I have been recording 'The Jetsons' 1962 series on Bommarang and I have enjoyed the nostalgic trip to my childhood. However, while watching 'Miss Solar System' episode, I noticed a obvious edit/censor of a joke.

The joke that is censored is where Mr. Spacely is sitting at his desk, and is trying to find Jetson using a TV viewfinder. Spacely finds Jetson at a watercooler with other work pals. Jetson has a piece of paper in his hand and a smile on his face. There is then a crude edit of the joke(?) he tells,the scene is cut, and reappears and you hear the audience laugh track going, then Spacely yells 'JETSON!!'

Does anyone know what was said?

I don't remember exactly what George was sharing with his co-workers, but in the unedited version, on the piece of paper, it was something like, "1,000 ways to goof off at the office."

There's a "German cross" in the opening credits of The Jetsons! For less than a second, it appears in the "space confetti"!

Thanks, it might have been censored if it contained 'Hitting on a secratary' or something regarding workplace sexual harrasment.

It just makes me curious as to what statement Geroge Jetson could make that was ok for children in 1962 that is now deemed unacceptable for adults in 2010 watching cable?

My guess is they needed extra time for commercials, so they ended up cutting a bit here and a bit there.

Also TV is becoming extremely commercial. But I am still not going to buy whatever they sell, especially if it is a paid subscription. They probably didn't really technically need that extra time for commercials.

TV has always been about the commercials first and the program second. It's the companies buying ad time (sponsors) the underwriter the production costs as well as paying salaries.

It would seem there's more commercials because shows no longer have one sponsor with a few long 3-5 minutes but multiple with commercials as short as 15 seconds.

Oftentimes when a show is sold into syndication scenes are cut to allow for more commercial time to be sold.

For the third time, The Jetsons is NOTTTTTT a Kids Show. This explains why there was something (actually many things) on The Jetsons and also The Flintstones that are now edited out because they are considered "unsuitable" for children to watch. Even though the 1990s animation, which DOES have a target audience for children, has MANY dark elements that shouldn't be there yet they are not censored. Much, Much more dark than anything on The Flintstones or The Jetsons.

TV is getting way too censor-eey these days. They keep editing out things just in case a rogue preschooler might be watching. They had this same panic in the 1970s and they were censoring anything and everything and I am not just talking about the racism. They censor anything with alcohol, cigarettes, and back in the 1970s they censored anything remotely violent. Are people becoming paranoid again?

That's not really true in the 70s particularly the early 70s Sanford and Son, Maude, Goodtimes, the Jeffersons, All in the Family and MASH showed and said many things that by the early to mid 80s would've banned.
