Trivia: What was Jed's wife's name?
And how did she and Granny get him to propose?
I know Jed's wife's name was Rose Ellen. I assume proposing was Jed's idea, as it is presumed she was a beauty (since Ellie May certain was). I don't think it is ever explained how Rose Ellen died, as is true of most widowers on TV.
shareLet's just say Rose Ellen and Grannie helped Jed finally make up his mind to propose because they were getting impatient:)
shareGranny's name was Daisy and her daughter's name was Rose lol I wonder if Granny's Maw's name was Lily?
shareI suppose it doesn't matter, but we don't get to know a lot about the Clampett/Moses family. I assume Rose died when Elly May was born, or perhaps a bit after. But did Daisy have other children besides Rose? Jethro was Pearl's son and Pearl was Jed's cousin, so I assume Jed had an uncle and/or aunt we never hear about.
shareAnd I don't recall Granny ever mentioning her husband.
shareThere is an episode where Granny shows off her spinning wheel, churn, autoharp, and a few other things. And she would say the churn belonged to her granny, and the spinning wheel belonged to her great-granny, etc. Apparently she owned nothing that belonged to her husband or his family. Even her guns and her Confederate flag, they were hers or her ancestors. Yeah her husband is never mentioned in the series (I suppose he could have run away from her, run off with another woman, and that would explain why she has nothing of his and is never mentioned by anyone).
shareI remember Granny revealing to Jed that herself(Granny) and her daughter had trained the horse (or was it a mule) that Jed used to court with to walk a certain speed and route so that the proposal could be set up to happen. I think this was mentioned in one of the episodes where Elly was courting and it got Jed to reminiscing about his own courtship.
