Who would the Clampetts vote for?

Supposing the Clampetts decided to vote, WHO do you think they would vote for in this next election? Trump, Sanders or Hilary?

reply

You must be young... You see a tv shoe ...a funny one like this back in the day was meant to give you an escape from the *beep* of everyday life... Or maybe its that people didnt look to actors to tell them how to live their frikken lives!! No *beep* message or trying to influence the way people think or vote... Just entertainment...whdt a shame there is not more of that these days.

reply

Just a hypothetical topic for discussion, nothing to $hit your britches about lol

But my opinion to the topic... I could see Granny and Jed being old school democrats.

reply

Elly would likely vote for the Green Party candidate Stein. Since the others wanted to spend a bunch of money ending pollution, they'd likely support Clinton over Trump. But it's hard to judge this because when the show was popular, the Civil Rights act of 1964 was passed, and I don't know how the Clampetts felt about it.

reply

I know many ppl from Jed's and Granny's generation and from their similar living conditions were democrat so this is why I'd imagine they would be democrat as well.

reply

Given Hillary's from their area of the country, most likely her. Although Jethro's a bit sexist, he might think of Trump - but Granny would whoop him for thinking about voting for a feller from NYC.

reply

Hillary is not from their area. Her husband is. She's a yankee carpetbagger.

reply

Hillary had sat on the board of Walmart--which they would be familiar w and still dressed like. The Clampets would consider being associated w Walmart a compliment and a reason TO vote for her.

reply

"sat on the board of Wal-Mart" you just proved she is a carpet bagger.

reply

well weren't the Clampets carpetbagging when they moved out to California?? so they would not be bothered by Hillary moving around either

reply

Obviously, you have no idea of the definition of carpetbagger. Hillary fits both forms of the definition in the link below. Especially, when you consider she ran for a Senate in a state she have never lived.

The Clampetts, on the other hand, fit no definition of carpetbagger.

And the Clampetts meddled in other people's business too. They irritated Mr Drysdale because they did not purely keep to themselves and they got in his business also.

reply

have a nice holiday!

reply

Well, they went to see Richard Nixon in the original series and Ronald Reagan in the reunion movie.

reply

It's hard to say, On the one hand the Clampetts were big on hard work, so I doubt they'd want able-bodied ppl to get free hand outs... on the other hand, I don't think they'd like a lot of the Republican ideologies in other ways... I think they'd see Trump as arrogant and probably think he should use his money to help ppl MORE.

reply

Granny- clinton. "Bout time we git a woman runnin thangs- especially a southern gal"

Jed- " that Trump is a slicked tounged devil, but I reckon he'll git the job done"

Elly Mae- would see herself as Chelsea

Jethro. "Hot dog that Ivanka suuure is purdy"

reply

Granny would know Hillary was a yankee carpet-bagger. I can't see Jed supporting Trump.

reply

Early seasons Jed would not support Trump as he was not taken in by slick talkers, con men, or gold diggers. Later seasons Jed was more gullible. A sit com trope is that characters get dumber once the show jumps the shark.

reply

Nixon and Reagan would be outside of today's GOP... Nixon understood when he had messed up and resigned. Reagan WAS a great communicator. He had some bad policies (trickle down economics) but he DID know how to work media on several issues--something which Trump has no clue and does not care.
