Hey, folks!

As you all know, I attended the 7 o'clock showing of the 1961 film version of West Side Story with my sister-in-law and a longtime good friend of mine, both of whom I'd invited and purchased tickets for two months in advance. The theatre seats were nice, comfortable stadium-type seats, which could be made, at the pressing of a button, to relax, sit back and enjoy the movie.

The print of West Side Story that they showed, along with the soundtrack to the film, was absolutely pristine, and a real pleasure to watch. We all enjoyed the West Side Story screening, and there were many smiles, laughs, some misting up and even some tears. It's a film that's well worth seeing, and is a feast for the eyes, the mind, and the heart. It's a film that I never, ever get tired of seeing again and again, whether it be with family/friends, or solo. I'll be attending tomorrow night's showing of West Side Story at the same theatre, as well.

Came on here to see if anyone went to the screening. The print was absolutely pristine, I could tell they used the same remaster from the Blu-ray which also looked pristine, this seemed like a 4k scan or something. The soundtrack also had so much power to it, it was great.

Overall it made the movie 10x more enjoyable to see it on the big screen, and I still loved watching it on home video, but the theater experience was something different. Made me wish I could watch more movies in this format.

I'm still pissed that I missed the screening of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre back in January!

I went to both the Sunday night and the Wednesday night(yesterday) screening of West Side Story at the Regal Cinema Stadium Fenway here in Boston, and in both instances, they had the same kind of pristine print. The soundtrack was more powerful and in one's face, like it's really supposed to be, and both screenings were a wonderful experience, overall.

As some people say, everything old is new again, and more of the older classic movies are being shown in this format, which is great.

Parking in the garage was a bit tougher, due to the fact that there was a baseball game here in town last night, but it was well worth it! I got my ticket validated at the theatre, so that I only paid 4 dollars for parking as opposed to 28 dollars or more.

Seeing a film such as West Side Story on a great big, wide screen in a real movie theatre with the lights down low, and sharing the whole experience with a bunch of other people, whether one knows them or not is a very special experience. Watching a movie such as West Side Story on TV, DVD, or on an elaborate home-theatre system is not nearly the same as seeing in a real movie theatre, no matter what people may say.

RazoulGoozleSmog--where did you attend a screening of West Side Story last month? Just curious.

There's no question that seeing a film such as West Side Story on a great big, wide screen, in a real movie theatre, with the lights down low, is the very best way for it to be viewed.

Glad you enjoyed the showing of West Side Story in Cedar Rapids, IA, and that the film was also pristine, with a good, punchy soundtrack to it, RazoulGoozleSmog!

West Side Story is such a great film! The ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture of the Year of 1961, were well-earned, and deserved.
