Natalie was absolutely wonderful

Natalie projected innocence and sincerity, and her emotional scenes were powerful.

Natalie Wood had just the personality for Maria, as well.

Oh yes she was perfect oh and I love that voice!!!!

The voice was Marnie Nixon who also sang for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady; and Deborah Kerr in The King and I.

O ok I didn't know that I always thaught she did her own singing but anywho she was stil amazing

reply

I agree.

even though she lip synced she was amazing as Maria
she was such a big actress at that time

I thought that Natalie Wood did well as Maria, too. Mainly due to my intense love for the film, but also partly due to the fact that dubbing in films was quite common back during the period when West Side Story had first come out and was the heyday of its freshness, newness and popularity, I'm more than willing to overlook the dubbing in this movie,

She made a fantastic Maria and even her lip-synching was spot on. IMO her greatest ever role.🐭

Natalie Wood also had the looks and the personality for Maria, as well.

I loved her to pieces, but I prefer Josephine Scaglione from the revival

reply

Josephine Scaglione from the Broadway revival of West Side Story was fine, in her role as Maria, but her voice was a bit shrill, especially on the really high notes.

reply

She was perfect. She's better than Natalie.

I love you, Kristen Stewart. :) You are so beautiful and talented. I would love to perform with you.
