What if Maria...? *SPOILERS*
As the title says, what would really happen if she personally went to stop the rumble instead of Tony? Since it was her idea.

Frankly, nobody knows what would've happened, but, in those days, girls or women weren't supposed to get directly involved in what was considered a males-only conflict. I still remember the time, when Riff, the Jets, Graziella, Velma and Anybodys, who tried to hide, but was spotted by Riff and told to go, anyhow, were in Doc's Candy Store waiting for Bernardo and the Sharks to arrive for the pre-arranged War Council that they were having. The dialogue goes like this:
Riff: When the victims arrive, you chicks cut out.
Graziella: We might, but then again, we might not.
Riff: This ain't kid stuff, Graziella
Graziella: I and Velma ain't kid stuff neither...are we, Vel?
Velma: No thank you...Oo bole ooh!
Velma and Graziella exit, after Riff gives Graziella a little smack on the behind, and Anybodys exits, unwilling, but, unlike the other two girls, shoves a couple of the Sharks around, ostensibly to prove how tough she is, but that doesn't work, either, much to the Sharks' amusement.
Frankly, had Maria gone to try to stop the Rumble, she would've gotten similar rejection at the hands of the Sharks, who would've more than likely told her to mind her own business and get out of there, or, worse, been roughed up and insulted by the Jets, lie Anita later was, but on the spot. share
