Tr'ra! Definition please.

I have been trying to figure this out for years so I thought I would reach out to my fellow movie-buff friends in the U.K. for help. Jo and Geoff always greet each other this way and you can even see it (Tr'ra) written on the "goodbye" note Geoff has written at the end of the movie. It is obviously a contraction of two words but which two? What is the origin?
I love this salutation so much I use it as part of my signature on my e-mails. As I am American, it puzzles all my friends when they see this strange sign-off. Thanks and tr'ra!

How do you pronounce it? I thought it was as the letters said, but it sounded like "tu-ra" or "chu-ra" in the movie to me. Is it supposed to be that way?

its pronounced like "tu-ra" its slightly different with some accents.
