Not very realistic.

While I was certainly happy Sardonicus got his just desserts, the ending seemed somewhat implausible to me. In real life, wouldn't he be able to feed himself through his nose? I mean, I saw a guy eat an apple that way once.

Yeah, he got his just desserts alright. But he couldn't eat them!!!!

What he probably should have done is try to get a good night's sleep and then see if he could open his mouth in the morning.

I believe they removed the scene where William Castle had a second punishment poll. After the poll, people all give a thumbs up, and what happens next is Sardonicus decides to go to bed, get a good night's sleep, and in the morning, tries to open his mouth and discovers that he can.
I don't know why they removed it, but it was critical, same thing happened to the third through tenth punishment polls in the movie.

Seems the OP forgot to point out what exactly is implausible about the ending... It wasn't specified Sardonicus was doomed to die, was it?

Really? You watched this entire movie and it was only the ENDING that seemed "somewhat implausible"?

Wow.

Seriously.
