I was discussing with people on if it were possible for mr. sardonicus to will himself to open his mouth eventually or just give up? I think the doctor wasn't even going to let anyone know that all he had to do was be told to open his mouth and he would be fine. any opinions?

I think he wouldn't have been able to will himself to open his mouth without knowing that it had all been in his head, he spent too many years living with the idea that his face was paralyzed beyond his control to think of that. If, on the other hand, the doctor had gone back or Krull had been honest, then, yeah. Tell him it was in his head, prove he was given a placebo and he could've done it no problem.
