Remake?
I read they are going to do a remake. Who should play the roles?
shareI can't possibly imagine the remake, all actors fitted their roles perfectly and it's a classic.
But if they did:
Marilyn Monroe - Reese Witherspoon or Naomi Watts
Gay Langland - Robert Redford
Guido - Kevin Costner
Perce - hmm, no idea, I can't imagine anyone replacing Monty.
Marilyn Monroe- Nicole Kidman
Gay Langland- Robert De Niro
Guido- Hugh Jackman
Perce- Brad Pitt
Rosalyn - Madeleine Stowe. I think she's da bomb. Or Radha Mitchell. If Jane Seymour were younger, I could see her too.
Gay - Someone older, Redford is good but I think he'd be a bit soft. Gable was somewhat harsh in demeanor, so I'd go with like a Tommy Lee Jones. If Pierce Brosnan were more Americanized I could see him too. IF Russell Crowe were older he'd be a bit brooding but I think could pull it off. Same goes for Matt Dillon. Campbell Scott is always up there on my list for anything.
Perce - Any number of actors could take this. I like an Ed Norton in this one. I think he could make a good Guido as well. Or a Paul Rudd. Matthew McConaughey could be good here too. Oh Joaquin Phoenix.
Guido - I would like an Oliver Platt or better yet William H. Macy to do it, someone who's good at heart but a bit pathetic (in the classic sense, you feel sorry for him. A phillip seymour hoffman in Boogie Nights phase would work.
I hope not
This was seriously good casting
and there will never be another MM....ever
let it be...please
I hope they never remake any of Marilyn's movies. No one else could be as brilliant as she was in this role.
shareMM was MM....nuff said...."Let it Be"
shareI hope they don't remake it. The movie stands alone because of the unhappy/difficult history connected with it. And I agree that the stars made the roles their own.
shareBlondeVixen -- well said. There are many great actors today who could give it a try, but I would prefer not to see a remake. It is a bittersweet memory piece of another time and the great stars of yesteryear.

Where did you read this? I can't help but think this has got to be a joke, but Hollywood has done sillier things.
"Nothing in this world is more surprising than the attack without mercy!"--Little Big Man
No current actors could match the combination of sexiness and vulnerability Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift brought to the table. I think sincere vulnerability gets beaten out of people on their way up the ladder of success, these days.
I couldn't imagine what they'd do in place of the horse roping scenes.
If they did do the movie over, they'd have to change the whole vibe.

A remake of The Misfits definitely needs to be left alone. The very idea is downright blasphemous. Hollywood should go and get some goddamn new ideas, and stop trying to improve already-perfect movies like The Misfits.
