In the bar

I've seen this movie many times and my favorite scene is where Clark Gable leaves the bar looking for his children. I'm wondering if they were really there or if it was a alcohol induced halucination. The reason I say that is when Gable asks Tuco, I mean Guido, he acts momentaraly like he doesn't know what he's talking about. Almost as if he wasn't expecting the line.

I think his kids were there, but they were ashamed of him and because of that, they left.

I would rather believe that. It's sad that his children were that ashamed of him, but at least he wasn't "around the bend" mentally.

yeah I know. This is my favorite film of all time, and Gable is great in the scene.
