Emergency Alert System TCM ch82 NY

The movie is ending as I type these words. When did the cable company decide to do their routine testing of the 'Emergency Alert System'? Smack in the middle of Spencer Tracy's summation monologue. Knocking out the monologue and half of the sentencing.

Speaking from the point of view of an unwilling participant in several "Emergencies" the LEAST of them being unfortunate enough to be on the road when a tornado hit Queens NY a few years ago. All I can say is people should practice what they should do during an actual emergency. Panic ... Gather loved ones ... or as it has been said many times before, 'Put your head between your legs and kiss your ...' Well you know the rest.

The only thing worse than being interrupted by EAS is seeing your DVR didn't record properly because of it. Funny that while I sleep I would be informed of an emergency through a TV I can't see or hear because it's simply recording.

Incidentally, the EAS system itself doesn't bother me. Please, inform me of an actual emergency in any way possible. Just don't have mandatory weekly tests and a monthly test. Five times a month I miss a minute of something I'm watching and have to mute the TV due to ear-splitting screeching. If the system is so fragile it may break or be sabotaged on a weekly basis, you really have to wonder about the reliability at all. It may go down a minute after a test. They should test 24/7 just in case.
