Mrs. Berholt's Intentions

I wonder if we are ever made sure of Mrs. Berholt's true intentions with befriending Spencer Tracy. The fact that she doesn't answer the ringing telephone at the end would indicate that she really wasn't interested in the judge except to try and influence him.

I agree. Her intentions were to sway him.

I watched this yesterday for the fist time and my favorite scene (so far) is the phone ringing in Mrs Berholt's dark apartment. You can see she's gone back to staying in her apartment drinking, just as she discribed her behavior after her husbands execution.
