Still good

Just watched this again tonight on PBS after many years, still holds up well. The one thing I found a little bit jarring was Burt Lancaster playing a German, but his performance was excellent. Amazing to see actors like Marlene Dietrich, Monty Clift, and Judy Garland who I thought were all washed up by that time, turn in excellent performances. The whole cast was great, and screenplay too. Makes you realize what a fine line there can be between right and wrong, good and evil, and once it is crossed, all there can be later is regret. Might have more...this might get me started on a Stanley Kramer retrospective, he may be better than I remembered.
