Quite unbearable

I just finished watching this for the first time and it's affected me massively.
I suppose this is a full stars for me...I'm usually more articulate than this but this has actually touched me a tiny bit too much.

I understand EXACTLY what you mean ... At the end of the movie I was LITERALLY in a state of shock and just absolutely struck dumb by the whole thing! o.0

When I first saw this film I was literally 'chilled', rendered 'cold' at the part when we see Quint's hand raise. Only a few films have done that to me. "The Blair Witch Project" and "Don't Look Now" were other ones.

An excellent film by all accounts.

I agree with you. Movies like this are the reason I'm a horror fan.

I've just watched for the first time, and the film's had a similar effect on me. I'm floored. This is a truly frightening, twisted, and disturbing masterpiece.

Princesstinymeat... I read once in his biography that "princesstinymeat" is what some friends gave as a sort of nickname to the actor Montgomery Clift. Is your username by any chance a reference to MC?

reply

Yes! Well done!

Pretty intense stuff that scared the crap out of me as a child. I've just seen it as an adult and it holds up superbly!

I agree, very scary. I turned on the light to leave the room I was watching the movie in.

Disturbing no matter how you view it - as a real ghost/possession tale, or a narrative of an unhinged woman spiralling down into madness. A weird, troubling masterpiece for the ages.

Watched this this morning, lights on and the windows open. Still totally freaked out by the end of it. Chilling.

The ending sound of birds chirping... it's truly creepy!

There's just a certain level of horror that can only be accomplished in black and white.

I love the look and atmosphere of this film.

Can't stop the signal.
