I found this movie at the local library and decided to watch it. So glad it was free to watch it because I wouldn't pay a penny to see it!Very boring, slow moving and not scary in the least. Horrible acting by all and those kids were very weird! I've also tried to read "The Turn Of The Screw" and found it to be the most overrated and boring "ghost" story in history! There are much better and much scarier movies and books out there!
Horrible acting, really? I thought Deborah was great in this and the kids were fantastic too (and I'm picky about child actors in large roles) as for it being slow moving, I don't think it is at all, I think it's pace is just right. The innocents is very well made film In every respect, I can't fault any of it - beautiful cinematography, interesting cast of characters, great script, creepy in all the right places - perfect Victorian gothic Horror and one of my favourites. I wish modern 'ghost' movies had as much thought go into them as "The Innocents".
Yes, the children are wonderful actors. The ending with Miles screaming and looking around for Quint brings me close to tears each time. I don't know how anyone could possibly think his performance was bad. I just think you already have to be into Gothic horror to like this movie. If you're only into horror movies with several gallons of fake blood for every death scene or horror movies where things pop out at you with a loud noise every five minutes then of course you're going to be bored. I'm into all different kinds of horror movies so I can enjoy almost any type depending what mood I'm in. I think this movie requires you to pay attention and is more about the story, characters, and atmosphere. Every time I watch this movie I am fully immersed in it's world and could never be bored by it. Some just don't have patience.
