If it was all in her mind... (SPOILERS)


Then the children sure did have some bizarre behavior. Even things that the children did when Miss Giddens wasn't around, like the scene where Miss Giddens was asleep and Flora went to the window. She even began to smile and looked more intently while looking out at the garden and humming the song from the music box. I'd say the children did some things that reach beyond Miss Jessel going mad or making allowances for her imagination.

It wasn't in her mind. We, the audience, see Quint at the window before Miss Giddens even notices him. If everything was "just in her mind," how does one explain that?

Hmmm, that's a good point. I've never thought about the timing of his appearance at the window. It's interesting to watch the movie from both points of view. There's good support for both sides.
