Communicating with Helga - SPOILERS

Okay, I know she had a stroke. I know she knew about Emily/Warren and was trying to communicate that to people, but could not because of her condition. She resorts to futilely banging a doorknob on her wheelchair arm rest (there's got to be some subliminal meaning there, but it escapes me). Anyway, why didn't any of these people simply ask her to blink once for yes, twice for no, and ask her what was up? All that doorknob banging made me want to slash her with a surgical knife!

****SPOILERS****

You're kidding right? In our society, the elderly and the disabled (and people that are BOTH especially) are often disregarded are even ignored, especially if they cannot communiate well. I worked in the medical field and saw it all the time. The worst offenders? Family members!

So the fact no one bothered to sincerely find out what was bugging the elderly, disabled woman with aphasia was pretty realistic.

reply

Pretty realistic in an otherwise over-the-top, campy, quasi-horror movie. Well, Helga gets hers in the end, anyhow.

Am I anywhere near the imaginary cliff?

reply

Why didn't Helga simply write GET ME OUTTA HERE!!! on a piece of paper? She clearly had use of her hands.

reply

Oh sure, she had use of her hands to roll her chair and bang her knob and press the button to the lift, but you'll note she couldn't feed herself, and I really don't know how well she could curl her fingers around a pencil and write well enough to be understood.

reply

If she could use her hands she should have hung the screenwriter!

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

reply

I always wondered why Helga, with the doctor there, didn't just fake passing out.
